Getting to the top of the Etna volcano is certainly the most beautiful experience that can be done in Sicily. It is important to be good walkers and be used to doing sports regularly. The meeting with your volcanological guide is scheduled in Piano Provenzana at 7:45 am, here you will be welcomed and all the material necessary to face the climb will be provided. The excursion includes the climb up to 2900 m along the magnificent panoramic road that dates back the north side of the Etna, through special 4×4 vehicles authorized to access the Natural Park. The trekking on foot starts at an altitude of 2900 m for 3 km uphill to get to the crater, at the top of the volcano at 3300m. At the top of the volcano, you will admire the volcanic manifestations in progress in that instant: gas emissions, high temperature smokes, high pressure gas releases from the volcano crater and the magnificent colors of the crystals called sublimated. The route includes a visit to the central crater, the north east crater and the South East crater. Obviously the program can be varied according to volcanic conditions (gas emissions), atmospheric or for restrictions due to safety reasons. The descent from 3300 m to an altitude of 2800 m will be made on foot. The final return to the starting point with 4×4 vehicles will begin from 2800 m.
